PHMSA Public Meeting Will Solicit Input for 2020 Emergency Response Guidebook

On May 7, the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) of the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) announced that it will conduct a public meeting on June 17, 2019, to solicit input on the development of the 2020 edition of the Emergency Response Guidebook (ERG).  At the June 17 meeting, PHMSA will specifically seek comment on response protocols for incidents involving toxic-by-inhalation materials.

The ERG is used by first responders during the initial phase of a transportation incident involving hazardous materials.  It is updated every four years.  The ERG is distributed free of charge to the emergency response community through state emergency management coordinators.  Additional information is available at: https://www.phmsa.dot.gov/hazmat/erg/emergency-response-guidebook-erg.
